On December 1, 2025, Representative Paul M. Santucci, Representative Gregory J. Costantino, and Senator David P. Tikoian joined us to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Smithfield Police Department.
During the visit, they presented the original 1950 State of Rhode Island General Assembly document that authorized the Town of Smithfield to establish a permanent police force, an incredible piece of our history.
Representative Santucci also ensured these historic documents were professionally preserved with acid-free mats and framing.
These important artifacts will be proudly displayed in the Sgt. Norman G. Vezina Community Room for our community to view and appreciate.
